Gramma's May Basket Mandala Tablecloth

I had such fun making this!
My Grandmother was born in 1896 and lived to be 100 years old. She was a wonderful woman, full of fun. She loved to bake and make candy - Ike's Million Dollar Fudge, Potato Candy, Stuffed Dates - and every spring she made colorful May Baskets and filled them with her homemade goodies for her family and friends. Then she would ring our doorbells, leave the baskets on our steps, and hide! Gramma so enjoyed her friends. They played cards together each week and called themselves "The Galloping Grandmothers." Gramma always set a pretty table for the ladies. This table cloth reminds me of my Gram. It is patched together with fabric belonging to four generations of women: my grandmother, my mother, myself, and my daughter, Lisbeth. Lisbeth's mandala is at the center, the rainbow plaid came from my mother's stash, the rest of the fabric is mine except for the white and pink flowered border - this comes from an upcycled vintage tablecloth that belonged to my grandmother. 34" x 34"
Table cloth is embellished with ribbon, ric rac, top stitching, and hand embroidery.
There's great energy in this tablecloth - it will make an extra special Mother's Day, Bridal Shower, or Wedding Gift!
There's a Mother's Day Sale going on over at Brainstorm Studio! Buy ANY 2 items, and get 20 percent off ANY third item! Yay!

Blue Goddess Mandala Table Quilt

Completed, documented, and now for sale over in Lisbeth's Etsy shop! And I ordered 14 more yards of fabric from Spoonflower today. Stay tuned!Lisbeth is down with seizures again, but she had a good week and a half or so. I can always tell she's in a good space when she doesn't call me alot - and when she does call, it's to tell me to put money in her bank account! :^) She loves to shop!

Goddess Sisters Mandala Fabric...

...in the process of becoming a table quilt. I'm still using my trusty 50's Singer, but must soon make the leap and buy a new fangled machine that does more than a straight stitch! I'm trimming and backing the quilt with this pretty madras plaid. It was part of my mother's stash of fabric that I inherited when we moved her out of her house into an Alzheimer's unit in an assisted living facility. This fabric is so my mother. I will be adding a ribbon trim, and doing some machine quilting next...Our table runner in the previous post was mentioned in yet another blog post yesterday! So cool! Check it out!

Fabric Fun

Both my sister Deb and my daughter Kaitlyn just showed me these bed linens by Lilly Pulitzer for Garnet Hill (above), and commented on how similar these fabric designs are to the ones that I'm creating with Lisbeth's mandalas (below...)!!

Last week I ordered several yards of fabric from Spoonflower using these mandalas of Lisbeth's, which I colorized in Photoshop. I created a half-drop repeat pattern (you can see what that looks like in the top photo, on those long skinny pillows!), with the mandala itself measuring at about 7" in diameter...I can't wait to get the fabric and start sewing with it! I plan to make napkins and tablecloths first. They will be so bright and springy!
